HoughtonBudd Architects

We have just completed the refurbishment of part of an Edwardian end of terrace house in Peckham, London.

The project involved the creation of a new kitchen and dining room with a small study work space to the rear of the property. Contrary to a typical rear extension project in which large open-plan spaces are formed it was decided to use the existing room layout as the context for the new proposals with new doors and openings being used to create a consistent spatial character, providing a generosity of scale and a series of connected yet autonomous rooms that offer both conviviality and a degree of separation.

A restricted material palette responds both our clients interest in post war Scandinavian design and also the necessity to create a hard working, practical set of domestic spaces.
